WWE: Grading Potential Interim General Manager Candidates
Alright, it's disclaimer time.
For those of you who hate
spoilers, please read no further. This news is coming from Tuesday
night's taping of SmackDown, which will not air until Friday night.
Now that we have that out of the way, it's time to get down to business.
It
was announced during tonight's WWE SmackDown taping that the Board of
Directors has appointed Teddy Long as the guest General Manager of both
Raw and SmackDown next week.
So if this week's
selection was exciting to you, next week's should prove to be the
opposite. Like it or not, Vickie Guerrero did an outstanding job this
week on Raw. She not only reminded us why we love to hate her, but she
also inserted some life into the position and implemented some matches
to MITB albeit via "The WWE Board."
I by no means am bashing Teddy
Long, as he has been a GM staple for the WWE for close to 10 years.
However, he really lost a lot of steam after WrestleMania, and unlike
Guerrero, he has no one wrestler that he is partnered up with.
This
means that the chances of him adding one of his guys into a main event
or title match is unexpected. Not to mention the fact that the biggest
announcements seemingly happened this week, and barring a returning
star, Long's reign seems like it may fall flat.
I am hoping that is not the case. However, given the list of potential ex-GM's that could have been used, I personally, would have held Long off until after MITB.
In the end, I guess we will have to wait and see what happens and hope for the best.
Now it's your time to weigh in: are you a fan of this choice or will next week be a bust?
